A free city that sits right on the sea, sprawling across the peninsula that it rests upon, Calinth has seen many changes over the last generation–from an old prison to an uneasy and rather bedraggled port, then to a bustling stop along trade routes going up the western coast. The leadership of Calinth has always been in dispute, but currently, a council of elected free men hold power over the city–the Council of the Sea, as they call themselves, does still swear fealty to the King of Kalis, but words do not always match actions, and they are frequently delinquent on properly sized tithes to their upriver neighbours.
